From enjoying classic cars and fireworks to spreading holiday cheer at the Festival of Lights, there are countless reasons to visit downtown throughout the year and enjoy a unique family event. We offer 11  signature events each year with activities sure to please the entire family.

Get Your Motor Runnin’ Car Show – April

Dozens of custom and classic cars are featured each year at Get Your Motor Runnin’ Car Show. Rev your engine with a variety of hot-rods, muscle cars, vintage motorcycles and other classic vehicles. Come see them all of the autos and vote for your favorite.

 

City-Wide Garage Sale – April

Join the entire city as we do Spring cleaning in this city-wide garage sale. An item that may be “junk” in your house could be the next person’s treasure!

 

Farmers Market – March through October

Area farmers, merchants and artists participate in the Monett Farmers Market offering fresh local foods and goods. Open May through October, each Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, shoppers can stop by for the freshest produce in town, stop and smell the flowers, and browse other craft items. Sidewalk Sale – May through September

Join and support our local businesses as they showcase their very best on our sidewalks during the summer sidewalk sales. Whether you are looking for good quality merchandise, school clothes or a unique gift, you’ll find it here. Don’t miss out!

 

Freedom and Fireworks – July

Wear your patriotic colors and show your spirit at the annual Independence Day festival as our community comes together to celebrate America’s birthday. Spend the day enjoying great local food, family entertainment and rides, and then finish the night with a bang admiring the area's best fireworks show.

 

Repurposed Faire – August

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Monett’s newest event features folk art demonstrations, music, food, a car show, artisans and vendors of repurposed and vintage fare. Learn about reusing building and decorative material in an entirely different way and the beauty and benefits of upcycling. This crafty festival is fun for the whole family.

 

100 Mile Yard Sale – August

Missed the city-wide garage sale in April? Don’t worry this is the perfect opportunity to get rid of the items you no longer use. Contact the Chamber of Commerce for a map of the route.

 

Homecoming Parade – September

One of Monett’s favorite traditions, each fall we welcome back our alumni and come together to march in the annual homecoming parade. Familiar faces brighten Broadway as floats make their way through downtown.

 

Halloween Costume Contest – October

Located in our Historic City Hall Auditorium, bring your kids to participate in the annual Halloween contest. Show off your creativity and cuteness in our celebrated event to win prizes.

 

Festival of Lights – November and December

Celebrate the holiday season with us! Snow, caroling and all of the holiday decorations that you can imagine – visit us downtown for a good old-fashioned Christmas and a chance to check off some of the items on your holiday shopping list. Stop by our premier downtown shops, watch the spectacular Christmas parade and be sure to bring the kids for a chance to visit Santa’s helpers at the elf hut. Don’t miss this event! The lights are aglow each Thanksgiving and continue to twinkle each night through the end of the year.

 

Monett Christmas Parade – December

Come see Santa, various festive floats, classic cars, and marching bands on the second Saturday in December on Broadway. This annual parade is the perfect start to a cold, snowy Saturday for kids and adults alike to kick off the Christmas season.
